Stichting WAAF is a Dutch foundation founded in 2019 that works to reduce poverty and create a dignified life for people in Africa. It was formed from a grassroots initiative started in 2017 by friends who had witnessed extreme poverty during travels in Asia and Africa. Its work covers emergency food aid, clean water and sanitation (including new and renovated wells and latrines), education (school construction and learning materials in Gambia), clothing distribution, and support for people with disabilities and individuals seeking work. The foundation works with local partners and volunteers, funds its projects mainly through individual and corporate donations, collections, sponsorship and WhatsApp appeals, and states that organisational costs are paid by the board so that donations go fully to projects. It also offers tailored humanitarian projects for businesses and wealthy individuals. Its ANBI (public benefit) status had been applied for at the time of publication.
