About
Founded in 1950, Streekmuseum De Roode Tooren is a non-profit association based in Doesburg, Netherlands working on heritage, arts & culture.
Streekmuseum De Roode Tooren is a regional museum in the historic centre of Doesburg, in the Netherlands, run by the historical association Stad en Ambt Doesborgh. The association was founded in 1950 and works on the history of the former Richterambt Doesborgh, which comprised the city of Doesburg and the former municipalities of Angerlo, Hummelo and Keppel. The museum presents collections on trade and craft, religion, fire brigade, folk art, textiles, archaeology and geology, including a working tobacco-cutting workshop from 1894 and a reconstructed grocery shop, along with models of the city and the historic bridge over the IJssel. The association also runs a working group on building history, organises lectures, walks, films and exhibitions, and publishes books on local history. Free entry is offered with a voluntary contribution. The association is recognised as a cultural ANBI, so donations are tax-deductible in the Netherlands.
