t Praethuys

Founded in 2002, t Praethuys is a charity based in Alkmaar, Netherlands working on health, mental health, children & youth.

t Praethuys is a Centrum voor leven met en na kanker (Centre for living with and after cancer) in Alkmaar, run by volunteers. It offers people affected by cancer, including patients, relatives, carers and bereaved people, free informal support, information, peer groups, activities and relaxation in an open, drop-in house. It also runs groups for children, young people and young adults, prehabilitation exercise sessions in cooperation with Noordwest Ziekenhuis, and school visits that help pupils reflect on the impact of cancer. The foundation has been operating since 2002 and is funded entirely by donations, sponsors, legacies, funds and a municipal grant, with no structural subsidy. It is an ANBI-status organisation and holds CBF recognition.
