About
Founded in 2021, VKS Care is a non-profit association based in Capelle aan den IJssel, Netherlands working on addiction, housing & homelessness.
Vereniging Kwaliteit Safehouses (VKS) is a non-profit association founded in 2021 as the branch organisation for safehouses in the Netherlands. Safehouses are sober, 12-step based housing for people recovering from addiction. VKS works to improve the quality and accessibility of safehouses through quality standards, the Keurmerk Safehouses certification, an ethical code, training and education for owners and managers, support and advice, and research. It also represents the interests of safehouses and their residents towards municipalities, national parties and policymakers, aiming for a safehouse place for every person in recovery from addiction in the Netherlands. Members include safehouse owners and operators, and the association runs an annual members' meeting and open calls for shared experiences.
