About
Founded in 2011, Voedselbank Kollumerland c.a. is a charity based in Kollum, Netherlands working on poverty & hunger, environment & climate.
Stichting Voedselbank Kollumerland c.a. is a food bank foundation based in Kollum, the Netherlands, founded in May 2011. It collects surplus food that is still fit for consumption from supermarkets, farmers, manufacturers and private donors, and provides free food parcels every two weeks to individuals and households in financial need within the former municipality of Kollumerland c.a., now part of Noardeast-Fryslân. Applicants are screened through an intake interview against national criteria, and screening is repeated periodically. Food is supplemented by purchases from donations where supplies are low. The foundation works entirely with volunteers, who handle screening, administration, driving, sorting and distribution. It holds the Groen certificate from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, is recognised as a public-benefit institution (ANBI), and is a member of Vereniging Voedselbanken Nederland and the Stichting Samenwerkende Voedselbanken Fryslân. Distribution takes place at Eskesstraat 50a in Kollum.
