Welkomsttaal
Stichting Welkomsttaal Breda
Breda, Netherlands
About
Founded in 2015, Welkomsttaal is a charity based in Breda, Netherlands working on education, refugees & migration.
Stichting Welkomsttaal Breda is a non-profit foundation that has offered Dutch language lessons to non-native speakers in Breda since 2015. It was founded as a small initiative to support refugees and status holders and has grown into a larger language organisation. Lessons are given in small groups by volunteer language coaches, supported by NT2 teachers and coordinators, at Bibliotheek de Nieuwe Veste. The foundation uses the Delft method, a communicative approach centred on speaking, and aims to prevent newcomers from becoming functionally illiterate. Courses are offered in person and online, with reduced fees for holders of the Bredapas. The foundation also organises integration activities and relies on donations, funds and businesses for its work. It acts as an intake and support point for the Breda municipality's language policy.
