The Dorfmühle Willingshausen is a centuries-old mill dating from 1747, originally used for grain milling. In 1996, Susanne Korte and Jörg Haafke took ownership and transformed the facility into a renewable energy operation. The mill now operates a 30 kW Kaplan turbine installed in 1999, producing approximately 120,000 kWh of electricity annually (equivalent to powering 35 households), with excess power fed into the E.on grid since 2000. A 25 kWp photovoltaic system on the cattle barn roof was added in 2004. The facility also supports an organic BIOLAND agricultural operation raising heritage livestock breeds and producing meat, wool textiles, and regional products marketed through an on-site shop. Historical grain milling equipment remains intact. Annual CO2 savings from hydroelectric generation: 120 tonnes.
