Energyminer GmbH is a German renewable energy startup specializing in hydrokinetic power generation. The company has developed the Energyfish, an innovative floating turbine system designed for deployment in rivers. Unlike conventional hydroelectric facilities, the Energyfish requires no dams, concrete structures, or heavy machinery, making it deployable within weeks. Each unit is anchored to the riverbed and features a specially designed turbine system driven by natural river flow velocity. The system includes an advanced fish protection mechanism developed with scientific oversight, allowing small fish to pass safely while preventing larger fish from entering the turbine. The Energyfish automatically submerges during high water or ice formation to continue power generation while avoiding debris. All units are monitored 24/7 by an intelligent remote monitoring system. The company claims a single Energyfish produces approximately 15 megawatt-hours annually, with a fleet of 100 units generating around 1.5 gigawatt-hours per year, sufficient for approximately 470 households. A fleet of 100 units saves approximately 2,300 tonnes of CO2 annually. The pilot installation is operational at the Kunstmühle in Munich's Auer Mühlbach. Energyminer is led by experienced founders with expertise in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and water engineering. The company has received multiple recognitions including the Munich Business Plan Competition 2023 and nominations for various innovation awards.
