The BATMAX project is an EU-funded research initiative comprising 12 partners from 10 European countries (6 industrial, 6 research institutions). The project aims to develop advanced next-generation data-based and adaptable battery management systems (BMS) for various mobile and stationary applications. Key objectives include improving battery system performance, safety, reliability, service life, and lifetime cost through physics-based models, hybrid data-driven approaches, digital twins, and AI-driven prognostic models. The framework addresses real-time monitoring of battery aging, predictive maintenance, and knowledge-driven end-of-life management. Applications include automotive, marine, and stationary energy storage systems, with focus on next-generation technologies such as Gen 3b and solid-state batteries. The project supports the EU's Green Deal climate neutrality targets by optimizing battery utilization for zero-emission transport and clean energy systems.
