Campina Energie is a citizen cooperative founded in March 2015 in the Kempen region of Belgium. It brings together citizens to invest in renewable energy projects and energy conservation. The cooperative develops and manages solar, wind, and other renewable energy installations on municipal and private buildings. With over 2,500 members, it operates on the principle that wind and sun are common goods accessible to all. Citizens can become shareholders by purchasing shares starting at €50. Profits are distributed as annual dividends (capped at 6%) and reinvested in regional projects. The cooperative partners with other Belgian citizen cooperatives through the Onze Energie platform to enable citizen investment in offshore wind farms.
