Founded in 2018, Energent is a cooperative headquartered in Gent, Belgium with approximately 11-50 employees specializing in Solar, Wind, Biomass.
Energent is a citizen cooperative for renewable energy that unites citizens in their pursuit of a sustainable and climate-neutral society. The cooperative attracts financial resources from members to invest in renewable energy projects, energy efficiency measures, and energy services. Energent operates in three main areas: solar energy (rooftop installations via power purchase agreements), wind energy (citizen participation in offshore and onshore projects), and sustainable heating (heat pump guidance and district heating networks). The cooperative also provides energy renovation services through partnerships with expert advisors. Energent endorses the seven ICA cooperative principles and operates transparently with direct citizen participation. The company works closely with other energy cooperatives and launched the Onze Energie platform, through which Belgian citizens can invest in offshore wind farms.
