FuelSOME

About

Founded in 2022, FuelSOME is a ngo headquartered in EU specializing in Hydrogen.

FuelSOME is a 4-year EU-funded Research and Innovation Action (started September 1, 2022) establishing technological feasibility of flexible, scalable, multifuel energy generation systems based on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) technology for long-distance maritime shipping. The project develops SOFC stacks capable of operating on ammonia, methanol, and hydrogen—a first-of-its-kind capability. It aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, air pollutants (NOx, SOX), and validate technology to TRL 4. The consortium comprises 11 partners spanning Northern, Western, Eastern, and Southern Europe, including AVL List, AEE Institut, ATENA, eBOS, Elcogen, Warsaw University of Technology, VTT, and Zurich University of Applied Sciences. Outcomes are intended as a blueprint for other hard-to-abate emission sectors.
