About

Founded in 2018, Interconnect is a government headquartered in EU specializing in Energy Storage, Other.

InterConnect is a European research and demonstration project approved under the EU Horizon 2020 programme, led by INESC TEC with Dutch R&D institution TNO. The consortium comprises 50 entities working to develop and demonstrate advanced solutions for connecting digital homes and buildings with the electricity sector. The project establishes a Semantic Interoperability Framework (SIF) based on SAREF ontology, enabling cross-domain interoperability without centralized facilitation. Seven large-scale pilots across Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Greece, and France validate demand-side flexibility (DSF) integration, smart grid infrastructure, demand response scenarios, and energy community enablement. Key deliverables include the Interoperable Recommender (data-driven resilience service) and DSO Interface (cloud-based flexibility platform). The project promotes IoT standardization, cybersecurity, privacy compliance, and new business models for utilities and energy stakeholders through open innovation calls and ecosystem development.
