MARPOWER is a collaborative EU-funded research initiative comprising 11 entities from six European countries dedicated to decarbonizing maritime transport. The project develops next-generation gas-turbine energy conversion systems capable of operating on climate-neutral fuels including green methane, hydrogen, and ammonia. Key innovations include friction-free active magnetic bearings, integrated waste heat recovery systems, and digital twin modeling for performance validation. The consortium brings together academic institutions, research centers, industrial SMEs, and large enterprises to advance turbomachinery, combustion technology, bearing systems, and sustainable maritime solutions.
