MegaWattPuur

Founded in 2019, MegaWattPuur is a cooperative headquartered in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium with approximately 1-10 employees specializing in Solar, Wind, Energy Storage.

MegaWattPuur is a Waasland-based citizen cooperative dedicated to advancing the energy transition in the region through renewable energy projects and energy efficiency measures. Operating as a recognised cooperative social enterprise (cvso) and member of REScoop.Vlaanderen, the organization enables local citizens to invest in and co-own renewable energy installations. The cooperative focuses on solar photovoltaic installations on residential, agricultural, and municipal roofs, wind energy participation through Onze Energie (offshore wind investment platform), and community engagement. MegaWattPuur operates on democratic principles with citizen members as co-owners having voting rights in annual general meetings. The organization has placed over 200 solar panels across multiple installations and grown to 350+ cooperative members who have collectively invested over €500,000 in renewable energy projects. The cooperative also provides free advisory services, technical assessments for farms and buildings, and participates in subsidy-funded initiatives to accelerate renewable adoption in the Waasland region.
