Photosint is a Horizon Europe project aiming to solve secure, efficient, and cost-competitive renewable energy integration in the chemical industry. The project develops solar-driven artificial photosynthesis technology to produce green hydrogen and methanol as energy vectors using only sunlight, wastewater, and CO2. The approach is based on solar-driven electrocatalysis, scaling core technologies from Technology Readiness Levels 2-3 to 4-5. Key focus areas include perovskite solar cells, encapsulation methods achieving over 80% PCE retention in high-humidity conditions, and industrial integration for a fossil-free, circular economy approach. The project aligns with European Green Deal objectives, Paris Agreement targets, and EU 2030 Climate & Energy Framework, supporting Europe's transition to climate neutrality by 2050.
