About

Founded in 2020, TIGON is a ngo headquartered in EU specializing in Solar, Energy Storage.

TIGON is a 5-year European Horizon 2020 research and innovation initiative focused on designing and validating hybrid AC/DC electricity grids for the energy transition. The project integrates photovoltaic systems, power electronics, and multi-microgrid infrastructure with innovative SiC WBG MV DC/DC converters, solid-state transformers, and advanced energy management systems. It includes a pioneering WAMPAC (Wide Area Monitoring, Protection and Control) system and cybersecurity framework. Two demonstration cases are located at CEA INES (France) and CIEMAT (Spain), while two replication cases are underway in Sofia's metro system (Bulgaria) and a residential district in Naantali (Finland). The project aims to enable higher penetration of renewables, reduce energy losses, and provide technical, digital, and business solutions for EU-wide hybrid grid rollout.
